The week in review (June 24 - June 30)

A quick run down of the week. ....it was a busy one!

On Sunday we bid adieu to Lita for a month. She headed down to Mexico city to visit the family. We had a dinner on the patio to send her off.

Later in the week while Dad was at work; Isaac tried out for Blue Man Group, Olivia rehearsed lying on her back in the Einstein Gym and Isaac and Olivia posed for Olivia's official "One Month photo"!

On Friday, Kelly Miriam's roommate from MSU) came to visit. then we all headed to the Rochester park and played in the river. Here are some pictures from the week.

Detroit River Festival

Detroit opened the Riverwalk down by the Renaissance Center (which is were I work when I am at GM) this weekend and celebrated by having a "River Festival" or carnival. Besides there being a lot of GM propaganda there was amusement rides, food and games of chance.

Isaac especially liked the fountains by the merry-g0-round (this happens to be a permanent carousel that is actually really nice!) While he was there playing in the fountains he and Miriam were interviewed by FOX 2 NEWS. I caught some of the interview on video....you can not hear Isaac's answers too well though. I will DVR the news to see if it actually makes the broadcast.

Eventually, it was time for lunch. We headed inside to cool off, sit down and relax. After lunch Isaac impressed the Sunday Brunch crowd with his tantalizing tickling of the ivories.

Before the festival Isaac and Olivia relaxed and watched some tv. Later, while Miriam and Olivia got ready Isaac and I went to the car wash.

Joaquin's Birthday Party

Miriam's friend Consuelo invited us to her son Joaquin's 1st birthday party in Lansing. It took us a little while(about 3 hrs) to get there due to some "snack" breaks and diaper changes along the way, however; when we got there we had an incredible time. There were all sorts of things for the kids to do; a bounce house, soccer, football, Frisbee and of course pinatas, cake and presents.

Susie, Juan, Destiny and Maria were also there. The girls even tried to give Isaac some dancing lessons(see the video for this...). Juan and Isaac had a great time playing around, Isaac taught Juan how to play "push" and Juan showed him how to give a "thumbs up!"

Check out the pictures!

Isaac gets another Haircut

Saturday was an extremely busy day. The first thing we did when we got out of the house was go to Birmingham for a haircut....here are some pictures. I do not think Isaac chose the apron...at least I hope not...it is a little too sassy for him....although it did look like a baby Jaguar.
After which, we headed to Gymnastics, lunch and then to Lansing for a Birthday party(these pictures will be in the next post...coming soon.)

Isaac enjoys his first popsicle

Today Isaac and mom made popsicles out of juice. When I got home from work they were all ready. Here are some pictures of Isaac enjoying his frst popsicle (actually he had 2).

Sorry no pictures of Olivia today...hopefully over the weekend I will have a chance to take some more...if not maybe our new photographer can.

The World Through Isaac's Eyes

Well, after 2 1/2 years of us taking pictures of Isaac, the tables have turned. Isaac gets behind the camera and takes some pictures from his perspective.

Today, we received Miriam's new camera in the mail. After I got it all set up and was about to take pictures of the kids, for all of you eager to see some new pictures, Isaac got a hold of the camera. Since it is smaller and easier to use, he picked it up and in a few minutes he was a natural Ansel Adams. He will be working for National Geographic before we know it!

Check out his pictures....

Father's Day 2007

Today we decided to go to the zoo for Father's day. First thing first though, we opened presents. As we already knew, Miriam got me a spring jacket...which happened to be exactly what I wanted. Isaac and Olivia bought me some Lego....I am sure we all can play with. Isaac and I already built a house, a milk truck and a tractor this morning.

We finally headed out to the zoo around 10:30. We got there and got right on the train since it was getting close to lunch time which is immediately followed by nap time (of course Olivia slept through the entire trip).

After the train we had a picnic lunch and enjoyed watching the snow monkeys, lemurs and lions from our picnic area.

Isaac was then extremely "interested" - one might say insistent, in going to the playground so Miriam and I packed everything up into the stroller and we took the express route there, taking turns pushing as fast as we could. But as you will see, we did not make it in time, Isaac had already fallen asleep by the time we got there. Of course, as soon as we left the zoo and got to the car Isaac woke up asking why we did not get to the playground.

So we decided to go to the playground by the house and resume the nap later. All in all, we had a great day...but did not get many pictures....here are the ones we did take.

Cosmo and Isaac Play with Steak & Isaac plays with Olivia

Saturday morning Isaac and Cosmo ran around chasing each other with the Steak toy we bought Cosmo. Unfortunately, I just caught the tail end of this. By the time I got the video camera out they were already tiring of the game a bit.

After that Isaac wanted to check in on Olivia in her bassinet...there are a few pictures of the two of them.

Father's Day "Surprise"

Monday Miriam took Isaac and Olivia to the mall on what I was told was a secret mission.

When I got home from work Isaac and I were playing in the basement and I asked Isaac how his day was. The conversation was pretty funny so I have recounted it below:

Me: "What did you guys do today?"
Isaac: "We went to the mall."

Me: "What did you do at the mall?"
Isaac: "We bought you a new spring jacket."

Me: "uhhhh..."
Isaac: ",but it is not Father's day today so you can't have it yet."

Me: "Were you supposed to tell me that?"
Isaac(whispers): "It's a surprise..."

I thought that was hysterical so I decided to post it so you all could get a laugh....

Olivia and Isaac Posing

Well, things were relatively calm today so we finally had a chance to relax and take some pictures. (relatively being the key word here - the definition of which has changed drastically over the past few weeks)

Earlier in the car today on the way to lunch, Isaac noticed Olivia in her dress(one of her first) and said "Look at Olivia in her pretty dress, she looks like a butterfly!" We never did make it to lunch because both kids fell asleep before we got there so we ended up getting Taco Bell and eating at home. These pictures were taken after everyone woke up from their naps. Isaac was watching some TV, which is always the best time to take his picture because he is actually sitting still for a few a minutes, and Olivia was awake and alert and ready to pose.
