Memorial Day

Since it was so nice out today, we spent a lot of time outside. We went to the park in the morning but I forgot my camera, but after lunch we went out and played in the side yard. Isaac watered the lawn and played some soccer and Olivia played with the balls.

Olivia's 1st Birthday

Thursday May 22nd was Olivia's 1st Birthday. Miriam invited Dilcia, Tito, Michaela and Julia over for brunch to celebrate while I was out of town. By the pictures it looks like they had a really great time. I came home Thursday night and brought Stacey and Josh with me and then on Saturday Hillary and Ricky drove in too. Saturday afternoon we had another Birthday party and celebrated with the whole family; Edith, Natania and Jeff came over as well. We cooked out, had some cake and of course opened presents for Olivia and Isaac.Later that night after the kids were in bed, the other "kids" played some Wii....check out the video of Aunt Stacey boxing....

Sunday night while Edith watched Olivia, we went out to dinner with Isaac. After dinner we stopped for Ice Cream at Ray's. The whole way home Isaac pretended he was a bat and told us all about how he is "specifically a fruit bat who likes to eat mangoes". Then, when we got home, Isaac put on a sugar induced puppet show. I missed most of it (I did not have my camera ready) but caught some of the end on video...it was so long I had to switch cameras in between since the memory and battery died on the first one.

Plus, I am sure Grandma Hillary will be posting some additional pictures later in the week which I will link to.

....it was a great weekend but too short!!

This weekend - Brunch and Costco

Saturday morning we all headed over to Anita, Rob and Jacob's house for brunch. Gus and Christine were also in attendence. The kids (and David and Gus) played for most of the morning, then we took a short walk into town for some cultural exposure (there was a music/art festival) and some ice cream (which is the real reason).
On Sunday, we took Olivia to Costco for the first time and she slept through it. Isaac wanted to ride in the cart, which was fine until we could not see him anymore....

Check out some more of the pictures, there are some good action shots of Isaac and Jacob playing tennis.

Cranbrook Institute of Science Visit

Miriam and the kids went to the Cranbrook Institute of Science. They originally intended to see the bat exhibit, but the bats were sick.

So they ended up seeing an exhibit on toys. Isaac spent some time fishing and working construction and Olivia spent some time climbing...

Here are some pictures and a video.

Mother's Day Weekend

We had a very active weekend celebrating Mother's day.

On Saturday, we all went flower shopping to prepare for our annual "Move the Pots!" day. Miriam and Isaac picked out some flowers together. At one point, Isaac separated from the group and picked out his own flat of pansies and delivered them to Mom...see picture above.

After we were done picking out flowers, we took a walk over to the shrub and tree section and I gave Miriam and the kids a ride in the "Purple Cart. All three of them really got a kick out of me pushing it up the hills and navigating around the patio furniture displays.

We then came home and planted some Sod and set up the sprinklers for the season.

Saturday Night, Lita came over so Miriam and I could head to Ann Arbor for a Mother's Day Eve celebration at one of our favorite restaurants (ironically named Eve). While Mom and Dad got ready, Isaac and Lita were hard at work with the Skyscraper Construction project. It was a pretty intricate design; accommodating several modes of transportation, there was a parking garage(including a ramp with a tunnel) and a helipad for the VIP clientele.

Sunday (Mother's Day) it was raining so we could not plant any flowers, so we went to the Mall with the objective to get sneakers for Isaac. While we were at Macy's Isaac saw a blazer "Like Daddy wears to work" and he wanted to try it on. He wanted to try on some fancy pants too but we opted not to do that and stick to the mission.

We did get some new sneakers!! They are very cool!!!! They are called Superballs and have "superballs" in the soles for cushioning.

The new SuperBall® heel component delivers maximum energy return on impact. But built-in multidirectional traction lugs keep kids on their feet no matter how fast they're going. Mid-sole cushioning support ensures those feet will stay cushioned and protected with each step (or leap!).

Sunday night, we had a very nice dinner at Edith's where we met Natania and her friend Jeff.

See all of the pictures....

First visit to the Detroit Zoo - 2008

It was such a nice day out we decided to go to the Detroit Zoo today. We spent a lot of time at the playground, then took a train ride, had a picnic where we had a visitor join us but he did not eat much....

....and then we checked out some more animals.

Olivia, the Towel, a Fork, an Orb and Isaac and a Whale

This morning I was feeding Olivia her snack (yogurt) and realized we had run out of bibs. I had to improvise. Olivia was not impressed with my improvisation...although after a few jokes she cracked a smile...

Since it was raining we took the kids to the mall where Olivia ate lunch with a fork and Isaac had a whale of a time playing with a huge stuffed marine life at Pottery Barn Kids (PBK). The kids also checked were mesmerized by the huge spinning floating marble spherical thing...if anyone know the real name for this let me know....they have been spotted in many a mall in suburbia.

A couple things from the past week

Thursday Night (4/24) - Isaac, Olivia and Miriam went over to Joopie's house for her Birthday. Joopie (Spelling?) (AKA: Julia) and fer family are from Italy. Miriam and her mom met and are becoming good friends, as are the kids! Hopefully someday I will get to meet the family!

Here are some more pictures from her party.

On Sunday (4/27) - Miriam took Isaac to see “A Year with Frog and Toad

Here are a few pictures from the show.

Friday (5/2) - Olivia learned to climb all the way up the stairs by herself! (With Lita close behind of course).

Later when mom came home she caught it on tape.

There is also a picture or two of Isaac feeding Olivia yogurt.
