Catching up on the rest of August

It has been a busy month!

Here are a few of the highlights:
Impromptu neighborhood water balloon Fight
The neighborhood kids all got together and had a water balloon fight during one of the hotter days earlier in August. There some of the usual suspects, Connor, Colin, Kenny, Grant, Cole and two other older boys from across the street. I was not there but from the pictures it looks like they had a great time.

The Minnesota State Fair & a few miscellaneous pictures. The fair was huge, just like the pickle(which was as big as Isaac's head!) Also, see the picture of Isaac and his math formula, which he did on his own the other day while Miriam was in the kitchen.

...and who could forget Snow in August!

First Hockey Class for Isaac & Olivia

Tuesday, Isaac and Olivia had their first Hockey class at Velocity Hockey Center. We spent most of this weekend on a "scavenger hunt" for hockey equipment, trying to borrow and buy from various neighbors and stores.

The class is 3 days a week. The center has artificial ice which is less slippery and not cold and a treadmill for training them how to skate. Clearly Isaac has his stance down (see below).

They seemed to really like it. When asked afterwards what they thought they said "We don't love it, we really really love it!"

See some more pics and a short video.

The Kids Finally get their Play Structure

When we first came to visit our new house back in May, our neighbors across the street offered to sell us their play structure.....the only problem was how to get it from the back yard to ours!

For a few weeks we carried small parts (the swings, etc..) across the street on the weekends. Then we disassembled the ladder, slide and ramp and carried them over. When Grandpa was in town he helped us take off the bar the swings hang from....at that point we realized we could not do much more without either completely disassembling it or getting some more help to carry it in one big piece. We decided on hiring some people to help this weekend.....so naturally I took the kids to the Canterbury Park Horse Racing track (which is actually one of my clients - so that makes it OK...) for a few hours, while Miriam, the neighbors and our helpers moved the play structure over to our backyard and re-assembled it.

It looks great in the yard and needless to say the kids love it. They have been using it non-stop for the past few days!

Check out the video of the first few hours after we got back, plus Isaac made his directorial debut on the video camera complete with narration....

Butterflies, Bunny Houses and Rain Storms

After going to the Butterfly house at the Mall of America with Grandma, Isaac has been trying to catch butterflies on his fingers on the deck in our backyard.
Olivia and Isaac also spent some time building "Bunny Houses" out of the family room furniture....
It has been pretty hot and rainy the past few days. One day when I was at work, the kids built a tent on the porch and pretended to camp out in the rain. See the video of this!

The Lubins and Wallachs come to Eden Prairie

This was the big weekend....Ricky, Hillary, Stacey, Josh & Gabriel came to visit us in Minnesota!
We spent our time playing around the house, downtown at the farmer's market, at MyGym, at the Mall of America and various parks.

We had a great time and can't wait for everyone to come back for Thanksgiving!
