2013 Wrap up

Well a lot happened in the remaining weeks of December 2013 and I am quite behind on our posts, so here is a list of things with some links to some more pictures and videos.

For Cub Scouts we took a turn ringing the Salvation Army bell in front of Cub.  It was -10 (yes negative) and we thought it was cold that day....little did we know it would get much colder. 

 

Lita came to visit for Xmas and we had Matzo Ball Soup and Pastrami sandwiches for a nice traditional Xmas dinner!  

Over Winter Vacation we had a lot of fun and stayed busy...movies, the Mayan Exhibit and lots of good meals.  It was cold though, so cold they cancelled school  3 days in advance of the Monday and Tuesday the kids were supposed to be back in school!

The kids got a little stir crazy in the house, as you can see below.  See some more pictures from Xmas here.

For New Year's we headed to the Minnesota Children's Museum which never disappoints.

ThanksgivingKah - Part 3

After the Wallach's and Grandpa Ricky left, Grandma Hillary took us to Mall of America.  Grandma and Olivia went to the American Doll Store and had dinner, while Miriam and I took Isaac to dinner, the we all met up to rides some rides.

ThanksgivingKah - Part 2 - Wallachs Arrive

Isaac and Ricky went to Mall of America for "Grandpa Time"...with David as an escort....They rode quite a few rides.    Then the Wallachs arrived! And what did we do?

We did a lot of cooking....

Ate some great latkes!

Went to the Minnesota Zoo

and played in the basement....just to name a few.

ThanksgivingKah - Part 1 Ricky and Hillary arrive

Well we have all been preparing for the big ThanksgivingKah visit. The kids have been rehearsing their Hanukkah songs with the Children Choir at temple.  They got to do 2 dry runs at religious school on Sunday...make sure to watch the video!  We have gone grocery shopping at least 3 times and Cosmo got a bath!!

We picked Grandma Hillary and Grandpa Ricky at the airprot and headed straight to Isaac's school to watch his fencing class.  En garde!

And we made it to Mort's of course for some Pastrami!  See the videos and some more pictures here.

 The kids and I were "winterizing" today and decided to take some pictures once we were done....the colors were amazing!

Isaac's Last Soccer Game

The boys played there last soccer game this weekend, which is good it starting to get cold!  Four of the boys, Darien, Nolan, Benon and Owen are also in scouts with him.  I believe it was a tie 1-1.  They have all been improving so much this year it has been fantastic to watch.  Isaac had a shot on net that was almost a goal...

Isaac's October Pack Meeting

Isaac had his October Pack Meeting this week. There was a Fall theme.  They decorated pumpkins, had a been bag toss into a pumpkin target, played bingo and had a donut eating contest - Lots of Fun!

Sukkah, Turkeys and Teddy Bear Parks

We decided to build another Sukkah this year.  We hoped to make this one a bit more sturdy and sustainable so it can be used and improved on for years to come. 

 

The first stop was the hardware store to get some PVC pipe....you can make anything out of PVC pipe!!

We then got home and built the frame and added some corn stalks and the kids' decorations...

Saturday, we decided to go to the Richardson Nature Center.  There we were able to hang out with some real wild turkeys....no, really wild Turkeys!  Then we took a hike....

On Sunday we took a nice Fall ride out to Stillwater.  There we stopped at the infamous Teddy bear Park, walked around town and had a nice dinner at an old time diner, the River Oasis Cafe.

David's 40th Birthday

Well as usual the family woke me up with a great birthday surprise!  Banana bread with a big "40" candle!  I took the day off so I could take the kids to the bus stop, have lunch with Miriam (at Mort's!) and pick the kids up at the end of the day.

The kids made some beautiful and creative cards!

Miriam planned out 3 choices for my Birthday trip!  Now all I need to do is decide where we get to go.....

 

I also received a very cool stand up desk for my home office. Once it is completely assembled I will post some pictures.  What a great Birthday!!!
