Sledding and a few random pictures from Albany

Today we took the kids sledding at the cardboard park. I only had my phone but got a few short videos of the kids and Miriam going down the hill in the sled. See the videos here.

While I was going through the pictures from my phone I found a few from our Hanukkah trip to Albany as well.

Christmas Eve at Lita's

Per tradition we all went over to Lita's for Christmas Eve to have dessert and open some presents with Lita and Natania.

This year clothes, socks, Star Wars and Little People were the themes.

After presents, the kids wanted to put cherries on the Lemon Meringue pie...I am not sure why, but they had fun.Not to disappoint, the Fiber Optic Christmas tree and "Fiber Optic Santa" made an appearance in the video as well...a Hungry Caterpillar Monster!!! Don't miss the it!

Hanukkah Albany/Michigan

This year we spent Hanukkah in 3 states; New York, Minnesota and Michigan.

We kicked off the celebration in Albany at Grandpa & Grandma's house with Stacey, Josh and Gabriel. Each day Grandma Hillary had an activity planned for the kids, Grandpa Ricky made sure we had dinner plans and of course there were candles and presents. We were also able to see the rest of the family; Billy, Joanne, Jessica, Nadine, Michael, GG Pearl, Rene, & Aunt Barbara. See our pictures and a 3 videos from Hanukkah here.

After a few days, we headed back to Michigan, with Grandpa and Grandma a day behind us. They stayed with the kids while Miriam and I spent a few days in Minneapolis.
See some pictures of Grandma and Grandpa's 3 days with the kids as well as Grandma's pictures from Albany on the lower right corner of the page in the "Other Lubin Photos" Section.

Isaac's Songfest at Pre-K

Isaac's Pre-K class had there "Songfest" on Wednesday. They have been preparing for this for several weeks now and we were all really excited to see the kids put on the show. They sang three songs; "Children of the World", "Happy Holidays" and "Jingle Bells". For the first song the kids sang it with sign language which was really sweet, there were a few tears shed. The "Happy Holidays" song was a bit funnier...pay special attention to Isaac and his letter "A". He did a great job correcting himself....

After the songs we all had a snack and got to spend some time with Isaac's friends and their parents.

Isaac also made us a calendar with a picture of Cosmo on it and all of our Birthday's identified with a star.
There is a video of the song fest and some more pictures at the link.

Isaac Ice Skating

Isaac started Ice skating a few weeks ago. He is really enjoying it. He can now stand up on his own, touch his toes, "march" and glide a bit.

This week after the ice skating class there was a hockey game which we were able to stay after and watch. He was very interested in the game, and is starting to ask questions about the rules. For some reason he is especially interested in the penalty box....

By the way the girl next to him is not Olivia....just the other student in his class.
Also here is a picture of Isaac pretending to be me....

Thanksgiving Weekend - 2009

Another great Thanksgiving weekend! This year Grandma Hillary and Grandpa Ricky brought GG (Great-Grandma Pearl) to spend the weekend at our house. The kids had a fun time playing with everyone all weekend, especially waking everyone up early in the morning!

On Wednesday, the boys met Tony downtown for dinner and a Red Wings hockey game. Isaac's first hockey game, which coincides well with his recent commencement of ice skating lessons.
Once again Miriam and her helpers cooked up a wonderful Thanksgiving feast for Thursday and Grandpa carved the turkey.

See more photos and a video of the weekend here.

Lego Castle at Henry Ford Museum

Today we took the kids to the Henry Ford Museum, there was a special Lego Castle Adventure exhibit.
The kids were able to build there own castles, dress up as; nights, dragons, and princesses, play in the "big" castle and joust. There was also an exhibit showing all the old Lego sets from the 70/80's too.

After the Lego Castle exhibit we had lunch and spent some time in the actual museum. Isaac was especially fascinated by the steam engines and generators from the 1800's and early 1900's.

See some more pictures and a short video of Isaac jousting here.

Trick-Or-Treat

This year there was no doubt that both Isaac and Olivia were going trick-or-treating. They had been talking about it for weeks and were very excited about there costumes and getting the candy.
On our way out.....

Examining their loot!

Here is a link to a few more pictures. There are also 2 videos, one of trick-or-treating and one of Sunday night before bed after the kids had some candy.

Pumpkin Carving 2009 - Skull

Last Thursday we took the kids to pick a pumpkin. It was raining so we did it really fast and got back in the car. I think this might have been the biggest pumpkin yet....every year the kids and the pumpkins get bigger!

Over the weekend the kids carved their own pumpkins with Miriam. I was sick and slept through most of the weekend, so unfortunately I missed this, but Miriam managed to catch a few pictures and a video of Isaac singing the Jack-o-Lantern song.
By Tuesday, I was feeling better and I was able to help Isaac carve the "big" pumpkin. We decided to carve both sides, one with his drawing and one with mine. He drew a ghost which I helped him carve...and he helped me carve a skull.

There are a few more random pictures and video clips of the finalized jack-o-lanterns, the kids dressing up and other fall activities throughout the week here.

Stay tuned for Isaac's Halloween Pre -K Parade Friday and of course Trick-or-Treating on Saturday.

Flashback to prior year pumpkin carving posts.

Happy Halloween!

Olivia gets her "Big Bed"

Olivia has been asking to sleep in a "big bed" like Isaac's for several weeks now. This weekend, Miriam and I finally broke down and decided to buy her a new bed.

I took a few pictures of Olivia's last morning ("Awake time" as she says) in her crib when she woke up....

And here is a picture of her in her new bed.

Miriam caught her initial reaction on video and then when Isaac came home from school we caught his reaction to his new BIG MATTRESS (I am not kidding it is like two mattresses in height, almost as tall as he is!). We gave Olivia his old mattress so he would get something new too...

Of course after the initial reaction the "wild rumpus" started!

See the video and a few more pictures.

Last night both kids fell asleep in under 10 minutes and slept all the way through the night....hopefully this is not just a coincidence!

Curious George Live

Today we took the kids to see Curious George Live. Isaac listens to Curious George stories on his iPod almost every night to fall asleep, so he was really excited when we surprised him and Olivia this morning and told them we were going to see the show. The kids really enjoyed it. Here are a few more pictures.

After the show we took the kids furniture shopping and picked out Olivia's "Big bed". I am not sure whether she was more excited about the show or the bed...

Also, flashback to some of the posts from the other shows we have taken Isaac to:
