Playing in the Laundry Chute and Painting the Dollhouse

Today the kids decided it would be fun to play in the laundry chute. Don't worry neither of them can actually fit in the chute...just the small closet where it ends up. They were tossing balls down it to one another and yelling back and forth, then they decided it would be fun to play in the small closet....
See some more pictures and a short video here.

Later Miriam and the kids went out to the driveway to paint the dollhouse. Our neighbor Rebecca came over to help too.

Saturday with Grandpa Ricky and Grandma Hillary

Saturday we went out for breakfast at IHOP. Then we headed to Rochester for the Heritage Festival. We brought Cosmo too! There was a lot to do for the kids and artsy stuff for the adults.

Isaac went rock climbing, Cosmo took a swim in the creek, Olivia got a cool Tie-dye hat and some popcorn and Ricky got to check out the classic cars.

Later we met Lita for Chinese food at Peking House. We finally had enough people to sit at one of the tables with the lazy susan in the middle. Isaac and I were both excited about that!

Olivia's Birthday Dinner

Friday night we Lita took us all out to dinner to celebrate. We went to the Mexican restaurant by our house. Olivia had her favorite apple soda and Ricky, Dad & Isaac had the "Grande Special".
After dinner we headed back to Lita's for cupcakes and presents...

See more pictures and a video of Olivia blowing out the candles(actually they were matches...we forgot the candles!)

Grandpa Ricky & Grandma Hillary Buy Isaac his 1st Bicycle

During Olivia's nap, Ricky, Hillary, Isaac and I went to Toy's-r-Us to pick out a "2-wheeler" for Isaac. He was very excited! He has been asking for a bike for several months now and mentioned that he would like one for his Birthday. Since his birthday is in January, it seemed like a good idea to get it now while the weather is nice enough to ride it.

He test drove, a blue/green bike, a Lightening McQueen bike and a Spiderman bike. He chose the Spiderman Bike, a horn, and a matching Spiderman helmet with a knee/elbow pad set.

We brought the bike home and the boys assembled it.

As soon as it was done, Isaac took it for an inaugural ride up and down the sidewalk while Olivia played with her 3D sidewalk chalk.
After a few laps, Isaac had his first fall...and he said..." I did not even get hurt, my armor protected me!".
There is a video compilation and some more pictures from the day here.

Olivia's Birthday Party at Bounce-U

Today was Olivia's actual Birthday and we all went to Bounce-U to celebrate. Isaac invited his friends Noah and Carson. They brought Olivia a princess outfit complete with earrings, tiara and a necklace. Of course, she wanted to try everything on right away. She wore the earings for the rest of the party...

All of the kids had a great time; climbing, sliding, jumping, rough-housing and bouncing...we had a nice time too!
Here are a few more pictures and a compilation of Grandma Hillary's videos.

Making Olivia's Birthday Cupcakes

Olivia has been saying she wanted cupcakes for her Birthday for weeks now. She even said she wanted them to be purple!
She and Isaac have been waiting patiently for Grandma Hillary to arrive to help make the cupcakes. So as soon as possible we got to work measuring, pouring, mixing, baking, icing, sprinkling and of course eating the cupcakes. They each had one a day early... and they had as much fun making them as they did eating them.

There are a few more pictures, a video of the baking/decorating process and a video of the kids dancing here.

Grandma Hillary & Grandpa Ricky Visit for Olivia's 2nd Birthday - Thursday

Grandma and Grandpa arrived around 3 PM after their long drive from Albany. We all helped them unpack. Of course, there were presents...which were opened quickly. Every outfit Olivia received she had to try on immediately. Every book Isaac received he waned to read....

Thanks to GG Pearl, Aunt Nadine, Uncle Michael, Aunt Billy and Joanne for the great presents.

Ricky and Hillary also brought the dollhouse and the telescope for the kids from their house.
For dinner we made some burgers and then took a walk to Baskin & Robbins for dessert.

Playing with the hose

This weekend we spent a lot of time cleaning prepping the house to put it on the market. The kids were a bigh help. They helped us pick out a rug and a toy chest. They also helped us do some spring cleaning outside. I was using the hose to spray down the front of the house and of course they wanted to help....There are a few more pictures from the day here....

Mother's Day

The Mother's day extravaganza started this year with breakfast at home (omelets and toast). Then we headed to the Art Fair in Birmingham where Miriam picked out her own present. She chose a hand made rug for the entry way. We even brought Cosmo, he and the kids played in the park for a little bit. Isaac and Olivia climbed a tree.

Then we went to Anita's kitchen in Ferndale and Miriam and the kids split 2, #16 juices (their favorite!) or a #32...depending on how you look at it. Then it was nap time.

For dinner we headed to the Mexican restaurant by Lita's house where they have Mariachis!

When the Mariachis came over to our table we requested Olivia's favorite song, "Des Colores". Coincidentally, the rain just stopped and we could see a rainbow out the window. This was the first time both kids had seen a rainbow!

Another fun-filled weekend at the Lubins. Here are some more pictures and a short video of the Mariachis.

Olivia' 2nd Birthday Party (Friends)

We decided to have Olivia's Birthday party this weekend because, her actual Birthday falls on Memorial Day weekend and a lot of her friends were going to be out of town. So we will have 2 parties. The other one will be for family and on her real birthday (5/22).

Friday during the day Miriam and the kids went down to Mexican town to buy a pinata. Olivia picked out a Strawberry Shortcake pinata. Later when I got back from Chicago, we all filled the pinata with toys and candy for the kids.
Saturday morning we woke up and got ready for the party! We cleaned, decorated and prepared all of the appetizers. The kids were a big help, they eagerly cleaned and helped set the table.
Later Natania and Lita came over to lend a hand and Lita brought balloons!!
When all of the kids showed up we played awhile, in the family room, living room, dining room, Isaac's room and the basement! After playing we had some pizza and prepared for the pinata....
We wrapped up the party with cake ice cream and presents.
Thanks everyone for the great gifts, Olivia loved them all!!

Check out a lot more pictures and a video from the party here.

The video is a bit long(about 9-10 minutes), but stick with it, her reactions to the cake and some of the presents are pretty funny...

Isaac's 1st Baseball Game - Tiger's Stadium

Today Isaac and I went to his first baseball game with Gus and Tony. Gus had some incredible, & free seats.
When we walked in Isaac received a pack of baseball cards and we headed to the seats. We watched a few innings, took a ride on the carousel and then headed to get his "1st game" Certificate.

"Paws" stopped by, so we went to say hello and get a quick picture with him. Later, Isaac wanted some cheesy popcorn which will probably be on his face and fingers until Tuesday.
Gus and Tony had some peanuts and Isaac thought it was hilarious that they would throw their shells on the floor. Gus and Tony showed him how it was done and later Isaac did some dancing(see the video).
During the 7th inning stretch Tony bought Isaac a Tigers Hat.
As soon as we got in the car Isaac fell asleep.
Gus - Thanks for the great tickets!
Tony - Thanks for the Tigers hat!
GOOD TIMES!

Reptile day at Birmingham Library

Today we took the kids to the library for Reptile day. Isaac has been watching a few shows lately about reptiles and dinosaurs so he was very excited. Olivia has been talking about turtles and alligators lately too!

After the Reptile Man finished explaining all of the animals the kids were able to touch and hold them. Isaac was able to touch and Alligator, Tortoise, Milk Snake, Gecko, Bull Snake, Blue Tongue Skink and Constrictor.
After the reptiles we all went to Story time and listened to some stories about reptiles.
