We woke up early to catch our 9AM flight to Chicago and kick off Father's Day Weekend 2008. The flight was remarkably uneventful. The kids were great and stayed entertained the entire way (see above, Olivia is standing on the tray table). We took a cab to the hotel where they were nice enough to upgrade us to a suite which was bigger than our apartment in New York. We had a great view of the lake and Navy Pier. After settling in, we went to lunch and then took a short walk on Michigan Avenue until the kids fell asleep. We quickly headed back to the hotel so we could get a nap in before they woke up. After the nap we played in the pool for a little while. Isaac rode a shark! We later headed to Old Town, where we ate at a great Mexican Restaurant, the Adobo Grill. They made the Guacamole right at the table which the kids got a kick out of. Isaac tried some ceviche and really liked the tuna. After dinner, we walked around and found a great park at a local school. Isaac and Olivia made some friends with the neighborhood kids that went to that school.
After looking out the window at the Lake the day before...we wanted to get a jump on the day and head straight down to the beach. The kids played in the lobby while we were waiting for some beach towels then we headed out. We got to the beach around 8 AM and the water was still pretty cold, so we did not get in too deep. Isaac asked me if I could teach him how to skip rocks...after one or two trys he was able to do it. We then headed to lunch and for another walk on Michigan Avenue. This time before the kids took a nap we passed the Disney Store....we spent quite some time in there. Olivia really liked the stuffed animals and Isaac bought a Lightning McQueen golf set. We ended up playing golf several times in the hallway the rest of the weekend, while Olivia and/or mom were napping. Golf slowly evolved into hockey which probably annoyed some of our neighbors since the balls were ricocheting off of doors and walls. Later that evening we headed to Lincoln Park, had Tapas for dinner and took walk and found another playground (Dorothy's Playlot) in Oz Park.
